Doane Stuart can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 85-57 at home. Doane Stuart's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Doane Stuart's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julius Brown, who scored 33 points. Brown is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiere Franze, who scored 21 points.
Meanwhile, Fort Ann's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Whitehall 70-25. While losing is never fun, Fort Ann can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 808th, while Whitehall is ranked 328th).
Despite the loss, Fort Ann saw an underclassman step up: Kadynce Cutter dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.
Doane Stuart's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Fort Ann, they bumped their record down to 2-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Doane Stuart hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 70.8 points per game. It's a different story for Fort Ann, though, as they've been averaging only 27.6 points per game. The only thing between Doane Stuart and another offensive beatdown is Fort Ann. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Doane Stuart was taken down by Fort Ann 90-31 when the teams last played back in November of 2018. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Doane Stuart was down 57-15.
