Basketball Recap: Lejeune Skates Past Southside with Ease

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Lejeune on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Southside Seahawks out of the water with an 80-46 final score. The win continues a trend for the Devil Pups in their matchups with the Seahawks: they've now won six in a row.

Lejeune got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Devon Charles out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds. Charles is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Connor Shea, who went 6 of 14 en route to 19 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Lejeune was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Southside still got an impressive performance from Josh Armstrong, who went 7 for 12 to rack up 15 points and five boards. Jeremiah Satchell was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Lejeune's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-5. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 37.1% in those games and 29.6% outside of them. As for Southside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East Carteret the next time they take the court. Lejeune will host East Carteret at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Southside will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
