Georgetown has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Aynor Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Georgetown suffered their biggest loss since November 28, 2023 on Wednesday. They were beaten by Loris 80-51. Georgetown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-25.
Despite the loss, Georgetown saw an underclassman step up: Trenton Parker scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Stanley, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Aynor's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 49-25 defeat at the hands of Waccamaw. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Aynor has suffered against Waccamaw since January 16, 2020.
Austin Tanyika was Aynor's leading scorer, having posted ten points.
Lucas Kamp held things down on the boards with ten rebounds. He took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Georgetown has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Aynor, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-13.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Georgetown have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 8.1 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Aynor, though, as they've been averaging only 26 rebounds per game. Given Georgetown's sizeable advantage in that area, Aynor will need to find a way to close that gap.
Georgetown was able to grind out a solid victory over Aynor when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 41-32. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Aynor's Greg Brown, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Georgetown to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
