Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Pius X). Their defense stepped up to hand the St. John XXIII Lions a 9-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 matches by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit St. John XXIII with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Thomas McGowan (5), Abraham Fajardo (2), Bryce Magee, and Noah Williams.

St. Pius X's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-0-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those five contests. As for St. John XXIII, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

St. Pius X will head out on the road to square off against Concordia Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Pius X is facing Concordia Lutheran at the right time seeing as Concordia Lutheran is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. John XXIII, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Thomas Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th.
