The Antonito Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Sierra Grande on the road and fell 78-11. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Antonito has scored all season.
Jasiah Jiron was Antonito's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Jadyn Martinez was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Sierra Grande. Martinez hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Aron Ojeda, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Antonito's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Sierra Grande, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Antonito will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake City Community at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sierra Grande, Sierra Grande and Moffat will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Moffat is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
