River Forest dropped to 6-11 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Hammond Morton Governors, falling 12-2. The Ingots were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the six contests prior), but the Governors' pitcher proved too tough.

River Forest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Roach, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Roach is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
As for Hammond Morton, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.
On Hammond Morton's side, Ei'Lani Herrera made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Herrera was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Hammond Morton let Aiyana Cruz and Payten Bevill run wild. Cruz went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Bevill went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Cruz has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Asia Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Coming up, River Forest will be playing at home against Wheeler at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hammond Morton, they will take on Whiting at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Oilers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.63 runs per game on average), something the Governors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
