Soccer Game Preview: Aldine vs. Dekaney

Aldine has gone 9-1 against Dekaney recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Aldine Mustangs will be playing at home against the Dekaney Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aldine has four straight wins, Dekaney has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Dekaney better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Aldine really get things going. Aldine blew past Spring 5-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Mustangs have won ten games by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Spring with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gewlaymi Gonzalez (2), Tiffany Salazar, Stephanie Rojas, and Sofia Lopez.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Dekaney's offense. They lost 7-0 to MacArthur last Friday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 726th, while the Generals are ranked 325th).

Aldine pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those four matchups. As for Dekaney, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything went Aldine's way against Dekaney when the teams last played back in January, as Aldine made off with an 8-1 win. Does Aldine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dekaney turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
