The Farmington Knights waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Ste. Genevieve by a score of 50-39. Given Farmington's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Dragons are ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Ste. Genevieve lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chloe Staffen. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points along with three steals. Staffen hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Bri Abt, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Farmington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Ste. Genevieve, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Farmington is on the road again on Friday and plays the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Ste. Genevieve, they and the Raiders will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
