Wenonah had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-14 to make it five. They came up short against the Parker Thundering Herd, falling 16-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thundering Herd this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 on Tuesday.
Amari Matthews made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Parker, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-7. The result was nothing new for the Thundering Herd, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
On Parker's side, Jordan Willis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Willis was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Parker let Ryan Elliott and Cornellrious Scott run wild. Elliott went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Scott got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Elliott has posted over his last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrion Nevels, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Looking ahead, Wenonah will be playing in front of their home fans against Carver Birmingham at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.37 runs per game on average), something the Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Parker, they will venture away from home to square off against Woodlawn at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
