Herscher has gone a perfect 7-0 against Clifton Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Comets at 10:00 a.m. Herscher has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Clifton Central will come in with five straight wins.
Watseka hit Herscher with a seven-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 11-10.
Reese Hartman (2028) was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Emery Fritz (2027), who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Clifton Central made easy work of St. Anne on Thursday and carried off a 14-1 victory.
Clifton Central got a massive performance out of Rayven Perkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Perkins has posted since back in April. Chloe Cotter was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Clifton Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Clifton Central's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Herscher, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-16.
Herscher got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Clifton Central by a conclusive 13-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
