On Friday, the Pascagoula Panthers faced the Hattiesburg Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pascagoula slipped by Hattiesburg 55-54. Winning may never get old, but Pascagoula sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristen Keys, who scored 14 points. Stephen McCullon Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Pascagoula's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Hattiesburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-1.
Pascagoula will be playing at home against Harrison Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harrison Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Pascagoula is ranked 18th). As for Hattiesburg, they will head out on the road to face off against South Pike at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Pike focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
