Grace Otto was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Stacia Hansen was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Arabella Martinez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .778. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .647 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Virginia City made easy work of Lee Vining on Tuesday and carried off a 24-6 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Muckers, who have now won three games in a row.
Nanna Lopez was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Krum, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Wells' win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.1 runs over those games. As for Virginia City, their record now sits at 13-7-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wells hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .480. However, it's not like Virginia City struggles in that department as they've averaged .504. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Wells' way against Virginia City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Wells made off with an 18-7 win. Do the Leopards have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Muckers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
