The Wilcox Chargers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 28-21 victory over Sacred Heart Prep. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Wilcox was the better team in the second half.
Wilcox's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyson Bonilla, who rushed for 173 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also threw for eight yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeiman Delos santos, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Sacred Heart Prep still got an impressive performance from Charlie Stuart, who picked up 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Wilcox's victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points per game. As for Sacred Heart Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilcox will take on Los Gatos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Gatos is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain View at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mountain View is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
