It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but United South ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Harlan Hawks 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won six contests in a row.

United South saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Gonzalez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Gonzalez has posted since back in March. Gerrick Vasquez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

United South pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Harlan, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Coming up, United South will be playing in front of their home fans against Medina Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harlan, they will challenge Taft at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
