Softball Recap: Fife Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Fife waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Clover Park Timberwolves as they made off with a 13-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 27-1 back in March.

Mallory Geving made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Monroe was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Hope Cole was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Fife's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Clover Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Fife will look to defend their home field on Friday against Peninsula at 7:00 p.m. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Seahawks have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season. Clover Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
