Courtland and James Monroe pushed the score to 25-1 the last time they played James Monroe, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Cougars never let the Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 25-1 back in April.

Courtland's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-9. As for James Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Courtland will take on rival Eastern View at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 3.7, the Cyclones 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, James Monroe is set to square off against their familiar foe Spotsylvania at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
