The Egg Harbor Township Eagles will head out to square off against the St. Joseph Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Egg Harbor Township has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while St. Joseph will come in with five straight victories.
Egg Harbor Township is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Jersey's top teams: St. Augustine Prep, who was ranked 11th at the time (Egg Harbor Township was ranked ninth). The Eagles might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-3 to the Hermits, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Egg Harbor Township saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Casey, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Another was Dylan Salsbery, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Joseph). They blew past Atlantic City 23-0 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Colton Robinson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Robinson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.
In other batting news, Aidan Riley was a standout: he fired off four doubles, three RBI, and two runs while going 4-for-4. Those four doubles gave him a new career-high. David Denafo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
St. Joseph was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
St. Joseph's record is now 5-1. As for Egg Harbor Township, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Egg Harbor Township has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Joseph struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Egg Harbor Township's way against St. Joseph in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Egg Harbor Township made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
