Baseball Recap: Fairmont Has No Trouble Against Dillon Christian

Fairmont barely beat Dillon Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Fairmont Golden Tornadoes blew past the Dillon Christian Warriors 16-1 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Tornadoes in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.

Fairmont got a great performance from Braydon Locklear as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs Locklear has allowed since back in February of 2024.

On the hitting side, Kenley Callahan was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyland Strickland, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Fairmont now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Dillon Christian, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont will face off against West Columbus at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairmont's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so West Columbus' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dillon Christian, they will host Florence Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dillon Christian has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
