It was a good run, but the Springstead Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Central 68-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (63), Springstead still had to take the loss.
Springstead's loss came despite strong showings from Nick Cordero and Austin Nicholson. Cordero scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, while Nicholson scored 11 points along with seven assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Cordello, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Springstead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jeroen "jd" Watson out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Watson is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. David Villarroel was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Central, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home.
