Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Centennial's Winning Streak

Centennial suffered their biggest defeat since January 24th on Wednesday. They lost 76-54 to the Weston Ranch Cougars. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Nevada, while the Cougars are ranked 250th in California).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Weston Ranch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damien Rease, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 20 points along with seven assists and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Rease a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Banks, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 17 points and three steals.

With the loss, Centennial broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-1. As for Weston Ranch, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 78-59 victory against St. Brendan on the 19th. As for Weston Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-47 defeat against Crossroads on the 19th.
