Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Fossil Ridge had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Heritage Eagles as they made off with a 12-6 win. That's more bragging rights for the SaberCats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Vedant Sharma looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Owen Morgan, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Luc Gaca-Thiele, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.

Fossil Ridge pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge will challenge Rocky Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lobos' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the SaberCats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Heritage, they will take on Rock Canyon at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.22 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
