McBain is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will challenge the Pine River Area Bucks at 4:00 p.m. McBain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Friday, McBain didn't have quite enough to beat Frankfort and fell 3-2. The defeat continues a trend for the Ramblers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.
Ady Haskin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, McBain saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paisleigh Magnan, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Jane Koetje also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Pine River Area strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Hart as they made off with a 15-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bucks, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Lauren Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Kylee Mumby was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Tatum Edstrom was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Pine River Area's record now sits at 9-0. As for McBain, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
McBain might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Pine River Area when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Ramblers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
