Cedar Ridge hasn't had much luck against Orange recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fighting Red Wolves will challenge the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Ridge will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Cedar Ridge's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Person with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Fighting Red Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Charlotte Lowry made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Lowry was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Mia Best was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Kimber Shambley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Cedar Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Person only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Orange was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They lost 12-1 to Wakefield.
Orange saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Carden, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Cedar Ridge's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Orange, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cedar Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Orange struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cedar Ridge took their win against Orange in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Red Wolves since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
