The Sandy Creek Cougars will square off against the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sandy Creek is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Sutton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Mustangs out of the water with a 55-14 final score. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Sandy Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kam Sealey, who rushed for 145 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and Kaeden Schmidt, who rushed for 101 yards and three TDs on only five carries. Schmidt's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Logan Tomky was another key player, picking up 50 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sandy Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Exeter-Milligan/Friend really took it to Tri County for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-22 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-14.
Sandy Creek's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Sandy Creek has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 192.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Exeter-Milligan/Friend struggles in that department as they've been averaging 170.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Sandy Creek against Exeter-Milligan/Friend in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-22 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
