The Hazen Highlanders entered their tilt with the Liberty Patriots with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Hazen skirted past Liberty 35-32. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Hazen has posted yet this season.
Dakota Nap continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring seven points along with 13 rebounds and six assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was India Andrews, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from Ella Whitaker, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. Whitaker also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Chelsea Irvine was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hazen only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Hazen pushed their record up to 8-7 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Liberty, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hazen will take on Juanita at 5:40 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Juanita is ranked 101st, while Hazen is ranked 116th). As for Liberty, they will head out on the road to square off against Interlake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Interlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Monday.
