Cabrillo is 9-1 against Morro Bay since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Cabrillo Conquistadores will head out on the road to square off against the Morro Bay Pirates at 6:30 p.m. Morro Bay took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cabrillo, who comes in off a win.
Cabrillo scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Santa Maria with points to spare, taking the game 74-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Morro Bay was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 53-49 to Pioneer Valley. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morro Bay in their matchups with Pioneer Valley: they've now lost seven in a row.
Cabrillo's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Morro Bay, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.
Cabrillo was able to grind out a solid victory over Morro Bay in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 56-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Morro Bay's Jake Falat, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
