Baseball Recap: Galileo Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Galileo extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 16-3 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Burton Pumas. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 14 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Zane Ridley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Diego Gil and Elliott Hartman did most of the damage at the plate: Gil went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Hartman went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Gil a new career-high. Creysmar Gonzalez was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Galileo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .409 or higher in five consecutive contests.

As for Burton, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but Galileo's pitcher proved too tough.

On Burton's side, Christian Pabalate made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. The Pumas are 12-4 when Pabalate posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

Galileo will have a chance to go back-to-back against Burton: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
