Cape Hatteras has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Columbia Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cape Hatteras put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Ocracoke at home to the tune of 56-10. With Cape Hatteras ahead 37-2 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cape Hatteras to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abby O'Neal, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. O'Neal has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Philips, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Columbia posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past Mattamuskeet, posting a 52-8 win on the road. Winning may never get old, but Columbia sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Cape Hatteras' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. As for Columbia, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10.
Everything came up roses for Cape Hatteras against Columbia in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 48-19 win. With Cape Hatteras ahead 23-2 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
