The DC International Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Landon Bears at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. DC International will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
DC International is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 22-2 margin over Richard Wright Public Charter School on Thursday. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Nile Williams made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Williams was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, DC International got a massive performance out of Jose David English, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. English continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Biko Sheridan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
DC International always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Landon is ranked highly in their home state and on Wednesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Sidwell Friends. Landon blew past Sidwell Friends 10-4. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.
Leo Rosand looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Zach Burstein was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Monsalve, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
The victory (which was Landon's fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for DC International, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. DC International has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Landon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
