Wayne County is 7-2 against Richland since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wayne County Wildcats' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Richland Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Wayne County is ranked 79th, while Richland is ranked 68th).
Last Tuesday, Wayne County ended up a good deal behind East Hickman County and lost 46-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wayne County has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Richland didn't have too much trouble with Community at home on Tuesday as they won 40-26. The win made it back-to-back wins for Richland.
Richland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katelyn Bass, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Shelby Higgins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Wayne County's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. As for Richland, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.
Everything went Wayne County's way against Richland when the teams last played back in February as Wayne County made off with a 47-26 win. Does Wayne County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Richland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
