The Anton Bulldogs will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Amherst Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Anton had to suffer through a rough 71-40 loss at the hands of the Panthers. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Anton in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, Amherst's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in January after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Whitharral 62-33. While losing is never fun, Amherst can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1513th, while the Panthers are ranked 613th).
Anton's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Amherst, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Anton beat the Bulldogs 46-37 in their previous matchup back in January. Does Anton have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
