The La Jolla Vikings will square off against the Tri-City Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
La Jolla is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past High Tech SD 82-56 two weeks ago. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Storm are ranked 1024th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brody Sessa was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 10 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Carson Diehl was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points in addition to five boards and three steals.
La Jolla was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Tri-City Christian took on Scripps Ranch on Monday. Tri-City Christian fell just short of Scripps Ranch by a score of 62-60.
La Jolla will need focus on slowing down Jeramiah Turner, one of several Tri-City Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8 of 19 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and five boards. Turner is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Dre Cleaves, who went 7 of 10 on his way to 16 points.
La Jolla pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Tri-City Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: La Jolla has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 33.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Tri-City Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
La Jolla came out on top in a nail-biter against Tri-City Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 54-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for La Jolla since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
