The St. Anthony's Friars will head out on the road to face off against the Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Anthony's is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
St. Anthony's can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Sunday. They breezed by Holy Trinity on the road to the tune of 41-14. Given St. Anthony's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked first, while Holy Trinity is ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Stepinac had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 42-21 margin over Chaminade. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Will Currid looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 310 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Jahi Gary also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 6-2.
St. Anthony's didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Archbishop Stepinac in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, but they still walked away with a 27-21 win. Does St. Anthony's have another victory up their sleeve, or will Archbishop Stepinac turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
