Even though West Phoenix scored an imposing 61 points on Monday, Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way still came out on top. Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way walked away with a 69-61 victory over West Phoenix. Given Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while West Phoenix is ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for TJ Clark, who scored 21 points along with two steals. Malachi Long was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Skyline Prep had to suffer through a rough 90-35 loss at the hands of Premier Prep- PHHoenix.
Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Skyline Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-21 record this season.
