Largo is 2-7 against Countryside since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Largo Packers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Countryside Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Largo beat Hollins 36-28. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Largo.
Mikayla Paschal was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Largo's points. Another player making a difference was Keilany Arrechea, who scored 5 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Countryside came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 52-39 win over East Lake.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Countryside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ally Wright, who scored 13 points along with 5 assists and 3 blocks. Julia Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 3 steals.
Largo's victory lifted them to 2-3 while Hollins' loss dropped them down to 0-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Largo have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Countryside struggles in that department as they've been even better at 32.8 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
