Hampton-Dumont/Cal couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were completely outmatched, falling 0-40 to Southeast Valley.
Algona had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They captured a comfortable 33-14 win over Humboldt.
Algona's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Hampton-Dumont/Cal's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Algona can add another positive mark to their record or if Hampton-Dumont/Cal can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Algona's step.
