The Rio Linda Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Roseville by a score of 69-66. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (60), Rio Linda still had to take the loss.
Rio Linda's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Smith , who scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The match was Smith 's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Rodney Shead was another key contributor, scoring 23 points.
Roseville found their leader in underclassman Tyler Ritter, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Ritter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Oreste Yong, who scored 14 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Rio Linda's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Roseville, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Rio Linda will head out on the road to face off against Del Campo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Del Campo is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Roseville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wood at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. Wood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1181st, while Roseville is ranked 76th).
