Basketball Recap: Caney Creek's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If Caney Creek was riding high fresh off their 65-27 takedown of Eisenhower on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers lost 58-33 to the Fort Bend Travis Tigers on Thursday. The loss put an end to the Panthers' undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Caney Creek lost, don't look at Jayda Kearney. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Kearney's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Fort Bend Travis' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Fayrouz Tahir, who posted eight points and three steals. Tahir is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anisa Allen, who earned eight points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, Caney Creek fell to 2-1. As for Fort Bend Travis, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Caney Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-32 defeat against Georgetown on the 14th. As for Fort Bend Travis, they have also already played their next game, a 59-35 victory against Kingwood on the 14th.
