Bellevue Christian is 9-1 against Vashon Island since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bellevue Christian Vikings are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Vashon Island Pirates at 4:00 p.m. Bellevue Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Bellevue Christian's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Chimacum as Bellevue Christian made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Vikings have won three games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brayden Rockey looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Evenson, who scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Mason Hill also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bellevue Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Vashon Island unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 6-2 to Cascade Christian on Friday.
Charlie Walker was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Walker was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.
Walker wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jude Dardeau, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jonas Maxfield was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Bellevue Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Vashon Island, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1.
Everything went Bellevue Christian's way against Vashon Island when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Bellevue Christian made off with an 11-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bellevue Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
