Notre Dame won a key recruiting battle on Sunday when it gained a commitment from
St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio) offensive lineman
Liam Eichenberg.
Eichenberg chose Notre Dame over his other finalist, Ohio State.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle is the No. 83-ranked recruit in the 247Composite for the class of 2016.
After spending last weekend visiting Notre Dame, Eichenberg made his way to Columbus to visit Ohio State this weekend.
Despite having the final crack at Eichenberg, Urban Meyer and staff could not sway him to pick the Buckeyes, though they will almost certainly continue to recruit him.
With Eichenberg in the fold, Notre Dame has now landed the top two offensive linemen recruits from the state of Ohio this cycle, with
Tommy Kraemer of
Elder (Cincinnati, Ohio) being the other top tackle to pick Notre Dame over Ohio State.
