Basketball Recap: Elliot Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Elliot Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 54-41 to the Vanguard College Prep Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-52 back in January.

Despite the loss, Elliot Christian still got an impressive performance from Jeremy Nielsen, who posted 12 points in addition to five blocks and three steals. The dominant performance gave Nielsen a new career-high in blocks. Justus Tokheim was another key player, putting up eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Vanguard College Prep found their leader in sophomore Xavier Lopez, who scored 22 points. The match was Lopez's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Julian Castillo, who put up five points in addition to ten assists and three steals.

Elliot Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Vanguard College Prep, they pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elliot Christian will venture away from home to take on Delta Charter at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Vanguard College Prep has already played their next contest (against Tioga), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
