The Abbeville Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Pearl River Rebels at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Abbeville's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Pearl River has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Even though Abbeville has not done well against Kaplan recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Abbeville managed a 18-14 victory over Kaplan.
Meanwhile, Pearl River put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 58-31 victory over Archbishop Hannan. The win was just what Pearl River needed coming off of a 49-7 loss in their prior contest.
Pearl River's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tashod Badon, who rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries, and Ziderius Brown, who rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Badon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Another player making a difference was Sean Jenkins, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Abbeville to 8-2 and Pearl River to 6-4.
