Evergreen has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Conifer Lobos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Evergreen managed to keep up with Wheat Ridge until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Evergreen suffered a rough 35-14 loss at the hands of Wheat Ridge.
Despite the loss, Evergreen had strong showings from Josh Bittner, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns, and Jace Jodie, who rushed for 100 yards.
Even if they lost, Evergreen's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Leading the way was Jackson Post and his 3.5 sacks.
Meanwhile, Conifer can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Skyview 52-21 on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Conifer.
Carston Wolanske had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Jackson Kosar and his 109 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Conifer's win.
Wheat Ridge's victory bumped their season record to 3-6 while Evergreen's loss dropped theirs to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Evergreen against Conifer when the teams last played back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 41-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evergreen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
