Clio has gone 9-1 against Owosso recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Mustangs will head out to take on the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. Clio's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Owosso's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Clio came out on top against Garber on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Mustangs took their contest against the Dukes 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.
Addie Taylor made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one run. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.
In other batting news, Payton Malin was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Summer Stevens, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Clio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garber only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Owosso, as they earned their first away win of the season. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Brandon on Thursday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Like Clio, Owosso also got a great game from a two-way player: Bella Harris. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. Harris was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danica Dwyer, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Ady Freeman was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Clio pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Owosso, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 8-2.
Clio came out on top in a nail-biter against Owosso when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
