Midland had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They took down the Lacassine Cardinals 61-46. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Cardinals are ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midland is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Lacassine, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Midland and Fairview will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 matchups -- so hopefully Midland likes a good challenge. As for Lacassine, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lacassine Cardinals take on the Eunice Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
