Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Winston Academy's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

While Winston Academy put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Oak Hill Academy. The Winston Academy Patriots blew past the Oak Hill Academy Raiders 10-0. Considering the Patriots have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Winston Academy got a great performance from Jayson McMillin as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. McMillin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reed Yates was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Eli Goforth was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Winston Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Oak Hill Academy's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Winston Academy will face off against East Rankin Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Hill Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Ethel at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
