The Palmetto Panthers will challenge the Coral Reef Barracudas at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Palmetto is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on South Dade with a sharp 18-7 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Lauren Falls made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The dominant performance also gave Baldwin a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jessica Ortiz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Palmetto kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Coral Reef got themselves on the board against Ferguson on Tuesday, but Ferguson never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Falcons. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Barracudas considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Like Palmetto, Coral Reef also got a great game from a two-way player: Quinley Wylie. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wylie was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Rodriguez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Chloe Junco was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Coral Reef has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Palmetto, their record now sits at 9-12.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Palmetto hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Coral Reef struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Palmetto suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Coral Reef in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
