The Newman Fighting Cardinals were the 42-26 winner over the Spencer Rockets when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Newman ended up on the wrong side of a rough 51-27 walloping at the hands of the Rockets on Monday.
Spencer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Autumn Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Davis hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Alexa Weber, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Newman's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Spencer, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
Newman will be playing in front of their home fans against the Redmen at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Wisconsin (Rib Lake is ranked 337th, while the Fighting Cardinals are ranked 360th). As for Spencer, they will head out on the road to take on the Indians at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Greenwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
