Softball Game Preview: Harrold Hornets vs. Munday Moguls

Harrold is a perfect 3-0 against Munday since March of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Moguls at 12:00 p.m. Harrold is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Harrold took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over Knox City.

Mylie Maness was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abrianna Albineda, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Saydee Duncan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Munday came into Tuesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Northside on Tuesday.

Harrold's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Munday, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Everything went Harrold's way against Munday when the teams last played last Tuesday, as Harrold made off with a 13-3 victory. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Moguls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
