Blackstone-Millville is 2-8 against the Tigers since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Blackstone-Millville Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Douglas Tigers at 6:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Blackstone-Millville has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while the Tigers will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Blackstone-Millville had to suffer through a rough 58-29 loss at the hands of the Blue Raiders. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Blackstone-Millville has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jackson Dunton, who scored six points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Cournoyer, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Douglas beat the Cougars 46-41 on Thursday. Given Douglas' advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Cougars are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colton Howard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Owen Gray, who scored six points.
Blackstone-Millville's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Douglas, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Blackstone-Millville came up short against the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January, falling 54-50. Can Blackstone-Millville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
